Poorer nations express discontent at Copenhagen
The summit is turning into a public relations disaster. The representatives of nearly five billion people have stated they are not committed to solutions unless Big Brother holds their hand. -- Malcolm Clayton, Canada

Bangladesh is one of the worst hit countries by climate change. But I think Bangladesh is not responsible for excess emissions of greenhouse gases. Developed countries emit excess greenhouse gas and so they should compensate for the losses inflicted by cyclones and tidal surges which cause devastating damage to Bangladesh each year. -- Homyra Farzana, Bangaldesh
EU countries should be careful before they pass any legislation with regard to global warming, climate change, emissions trading and carbon reduction schemes. For reasons which can only be regarded as suspect, politicians have been keeping very silent on the conditions and impact of their various schemes. Once passed, because this legislation relates to "International Carbon Trading Permits" all and any legislation, cannot, by any future German, EU, Asian or Australian Federal Government - no matter whether that government is social democrat or conservative - be altered, amended or rescinded at any time without the express permission of some nameless, faceless non-citizen housed within the UN. This is a denial of the democratic rights of all citizens and the parliaments which they elect. We should all, of course, move to reduce the amount of 'abfahl' we put into our water, ground and air but to pass legislation which can never be altered to suit changed or newly-proven science is totally unacceptable. -- Robert McCormick, Australia
The scientists are right and the politicans need to listen and do something about the corporate polluters that are causing this problem, especially in the developed world. We must stop global warming and create new alternative energy sources. Plus keep away from from nuclear energy; that spells disaster to our planet. -- Stuart John Pearson, Australia
The past: the West got here through plundering human and environmental resources in the world. The present: the West does not want genuinely to change or assist others though improvement of adaptive capacity (we know the meager proportions in their philanthropic giving) The future: they want to ensure "world policies" are there to ensure their continuous or rather expanded enjoyment of the world resources even if that means perpetuation of misery in the south.
