Through this partnership, DW will bring together a group of journalists and selected fellows and support them in producing content in Romani language.

"The cooperation enables us to have a direct exchange between journalists from the Sinti and Roma community and DW colleagues from Central and Southeastern Europe. This is not only a great experience for participants, but more so for all users of our journalistic services," says Adelheid Feilcke, Director of Programs for Europe. "We hope for exciting stories and exclusive insights into the different realities of life for minorities and majorities in Europe. The reports will be published in many DW languages."

NewsSpectrum provides fellowship grants to journalists and other media professionals reporting in a minority language. Romani-language media professionals are invited to apply for the fellowships by May 28. Two types of fellowships are offered: Collaborative Reporting Fellowships which support projects by journalists working at minority-language media outlets in collaboration with a majority-language media professional or media outlet; and Professional Placement Fellowships which provide customized short-term internships or study visits for minority-language media professionals at majority-language media outlets. It is recommended to seek a partner or partner organization before applying.

DW regularly covers the life of Europe's largest minority with regular dossiers, videos, reports and guest contributions from DW's target areas. Sinti and Roma have their say in various contexts of life.

NewsSpectrum is a joint initiative of the International Press Institute (IPI) and the European Association of Daily Newspapers in Minority and Regional Languages (MIDAS). It is co-funded as a pilot project by the European Commission (DG Connect). ERIAC joins the program as a supporting partner.
