Blackout - Can companies rely on Germany's energy supply?

With Germany planning to phase out nuclear power in the coming years, many companies are wondering whether their future energy supply is secure. This applies in particular to companies that have a high electricity consumption. Two such companies in and around Hamburg are copper producers Aurubis and chemical trading company Worlée

Future energy supply could be particularly critical here as three out of four local nuclear plants have been decommissioned. Solar and wind energy are partly helping to make up for the shortage, but because they depend on natural conditions, they are inconsistent. This is a particular problem in winter and poses a big challenge for companies who depend on a reliable source of energy. Report by Grit Hofmann.
