Bundesliga Matchday 15 predictions
After a busy week of European action, it's back to the Bundesliga this weekend. DW sports editor André Leslie has put in his result predictions for this coming Matchday 15.
Hoffenheim host Frankfurt
Both Hoffenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt have shown flashes of brilliance this year, but neither have really delivered so far. We expect a close game this Friday, with Hoffenheim's attacking flair just enough to make the difference. Kevin Volland could be a good candidate for the lone goal here. Our tip: 1-0 to Hoffenheim.
Top game between Augsburg (!) and Bayern
It's hard to believe, but international unknowns Augsburg are currently sitting third in the Bundesliga. If ever they were going to make a statement about their ability to play with the big boys then it would be this weekend against their Bavarian neighbours, Bayern Munich. But, they wont - sorry. The champs are just too good at the moment. Our tip: 2-1 to Bayern.
Hertha Berlin welcome Dortmund to the capital
Can Dortmund keep their mini-recovery going? They were back to squandering chances everywhere, in their Champions League match on Tuesday. The good news is: against Berlin they probably won't have to score too many. Still, we think this will be a draw. Our tip: 1-1.
Freiburg vs. HSV
If Hamburg is going to start chalking up some wins away from home this season, then against Freiburg on Saturday would be a good time to get going. Freiburg are currently third last and Hamburg have been showing some glimpses of form recently. Our tip: 2-0 to Hamburg.
Schalke to test Cologne
The Royal Blues welcome their southern rivals Cologne in the Veltins Arena on Saturday, and it should be an easy win for the Champions League team. Although they may be a little stiff from Wednesday, the away win against Maribor will do their confidence plenty of good. Our tip: 2-0 to Schalke.
Hannover 96 travel to Bremen
Since the arrival of new coach Viktor Skripnik, Werder Bremen have generally been playing better. But still, the lack of quality in this team at the moment is apparent to all and last week they conceded a whopping five goals. Hannover should get the victory here. Our tip: 2-0 to Hannover.
Mainz vs. Stuttgart in Saturday late game
Stuttgart travel to Mainz for the Saturday late game, in what is a crucial game for both sides. Stuttgart are still desperate to get off the bottom of the table, while Mainz would love to put some distance between themselves and the stragglers. As is often the case in such encounters, both teams will almost seize up totally with nervousness and it will be incredibly dull. Our tip: 0-0.
Leverkusen host Gladbach
Expect plenty of attacking football when Bayer Leverkusen play Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday. Roger Schmidt's team love to attack while Gladbach have a group of youngsters all keen to show their stuff with the ball at their feet. We're going to go out on a limb here and tip a high-scoring draw. Our prediction: 3-3.
The next tasty meal for the Wolves
Wolfsburg shouldn't have too much trouble disposing of Paderborn in the last match of Matchday 15. Wolfsburg is deservedly second in the league at the moment, and Paderborn's glorious start to the season is long gone. Our tip: 2-0 to Wolfsburg, with both goals from Kevin De Bruyne.
A new low for DW's prediction team
DW sports reporter Andreas Sten-Ziemons is normally a pretty clever fellow. But, last week he didn't manage to get us a single point in the Kick off! results game. Not because he didn't predict well, but because he didn't press "Save." This week we won't be making the same mistake. If you think you can match our 64 points, head here: http://kickoff.dw.de/index.xhtml
