Bundesliga Matchday 27 in Pictures
Matchday 27 saw Bayern win at Dortmund, and Gladbach and Leverkusen roll on in pursuit of Champions League football. Elsewhere, Freiburg and Hertha both picked up key wins at the bottom of the table.
Lewandowski scores on familiar territory
Bayern Munich's defensive 3-5-2 system trumped an out-of-sync Dortmund. Robert Lewandowski scored on his old stomping ground to secure the points for Pep Guardiola's men. The 1-0 result ended Dortmund's seven-game unbeaten run.
Herrmann provides the heroics for Galdbach
What a week for Patrick Herrmann: a new deal until 2019, and then a brace in Mönchengladbach's 4-1 win at Hoffenheim. It was a stunning display of counter-attacking football for both the player aqnd the club. Gladbach stay third and look set to reach the Champions League.
Hamburg get demolished
Peter Knäbel's first game as Hamburg coach was an unmitigated disaster, as Leverkusen thrashed the Dinosaurs 4-0. Gonzalo Castro turned in a phenomenal performance. "We have no chance in a relegation battle if we play like this," said Hamburg CEO Dietmar Beiersdorfer post-match. So what's next for HSV?
Who's stopping the Wolves?
Wolfsburg continued the consistent form they've shown this season, beating Stuttgart 3-1 at the Volkswagen Arena. Ricardo Rodriguez scored twice and Andre Schürrle netted his first for the club. Wolfsburg remain ten points behind Bayern, but look an increasingly good bet to finish runners-up in the league.
Hannover battle to save Korkut
Tayfun Korkut will remain as Hannover coach following a late fightback to earn a 2-2 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt. The Eagles will regret squandering a seemingly safe lead, but Hannover dug deep to earn a point. Nonetheless, Hannover still lurk dangerously close to the drop zone.
No goals in Bremen
Werder Bremen and Mainz perhaps have little to play for in the final seven weeks of the season - and Saturday's 0-0 draw looked like two sides who have put their minds towards the summer holidays. But Mainz are unbeaten in four matches under coach Martin Schmidt.
Freiburg hold their nerve
Every game is a six-pointer for teams at the bottom - and Freiburg have made an art out of escaping the drop in the latter stages of the season. On Saturday they nabbed a tense 1-0 win against Cologne - their second straight victory. Mike Frantz scored the lone goal that kept Freiburg above the relegation zone.
Farewell to the Champions League?
Schalke look set to miss out on Champions League football next season, as the Royal Blues dropped two more points in a goalless draw at Augsburg. That left them eight points off fourth place with only seven matches left to play - and in need of some major intervention from above.
Hertha lay foundation for survival
Hertha Berlin took a giant leap towards survival with a dull 2-0 win over Paderborn. Salomon Kalou didn't score but Valentin Stocker and Nico Schulz did against opponents who looked ready for division two. By contrast, with 32 points and seven games left to play, Hertha should be in the Bundesliga next season.
