Bundesliga opening weekend in pictures
Hoffenheim lead the table after Saturday's action, but there were also wins for Hannover and Eintracht Frankfurt. The pressure looks to be rising on Schalke's head coach Jens Keller after losing 2-1 after being ahead.
Leverkusen win in Dortmund
Karim Bellarabi struck the quickest goal in Bundesliga history, scoring after nine seconds. The attacker nutmegged Matthias Ginter and slotted home to beat Giovane Elber's previous record. Stefan Kießling sunk Dortmund's hopes in the fourth minute of stoppage time with the second goal of the evening to hand Roger Schmidt a debut league win in charge.
On form Hoffenheim
Last season's leaky defence looks to have been bolstered. Hoffenheim kept a clean sheet on the opening weekend, as they dispatched of FC Augsburg comfortably by two goals to nil. Adam Szalai and Tarik Elyounoussi struck in the first half, taking advantage of some poor defending.
Hannover show their mettle
Hannover 96 needed just three minutes to turn Schalke's lead into a nightmare for the Royal Blues. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar put the away side ahead in the 47th minute, but Tayfun Korkut's men rallied and struck two game-changing goals. First, from Edgar Prib, then new signing Joselu.
Pressure on Keller?
A defeat in the German Cup on Monday. A 2-1 loss on the first Bundesliga matchday. Jens Keller has every right to feel miserable. In spite of securing Schalke's record points total after Christmas, the 43-year-old's future will come under more scrutiny, as Schalke move from one crisis to another. How long can Keller last?
Drama in Berlin
Hertha Berlin's first home tie last season ended 6-1. There were fewer goals - but no less drama. New signing Julian Schieber hit two goals either side of the interval. But Bremen weren't finished. Lukimya and Di Santo struck within 120 seconds to give the River Islanders their share of the points.
Schaaf makes successful return
Thomas Schaaf is back! The experienced head coach saw his Eintracht Frankfurt side take all three points on Matchday One against SC Freiburg at the Commerzbank Arena. It was even one of his new signings, Haris Seferovic, who got the winner after 15 minutes. Freiburg struggled, but as ever, Christian Streich's side will excite this year.
A blank on Cologne's return
It's been two years since Cologne last played in the German top-flight. Their season opener against Hamburg was a 55,000 sell-out, but they wouldn't see any goals on their return. Both sides, defensively, held their own and will likely be satisfied with a point on Matchday One.
Champions open with a win
Friday evening's season opener is traditionally held at the home of the champions. Bayern honoured its World Cup-winning members pre-match, and led thanks to an Arjen Robben-inspired display. He assisted Müller for the first and scored the second. Ivica Olic pulled one back, before Junior Malanda failed to score from two yards.
Koo denies Paderborn first win
Mainz snatched a point at Paderborn and dashed the dreams of the Bundesliga new-boys. Ja-Cheol Koo tucked home a pressure penalty in the 93rd minute to level at 2-2, six minutes after Uwe Hünemeier had sent the stadium into raptures with what looked like the winner. Shinji Okazaki struck first for Mainz, then Elias Kachunga levelled before the break.
Gladbach draw with Stuttgart
Christoph Kramer was honored by his club pre-match, then netted the late equalizer to secure them a point on Sunday evening. The 23-year-old struck to cancel out Alexandru Maxim's goal for Stuttgart, midway through the second half. There was even time for a miss of the season contender from Gladbach's Hrgota.
