A former arms dealer Karlheinz Schreiber has arrived in Germany after fighting extradition from Canada for ten years. He is a key witness in a slush fund scandal which hit the conservative CDU party in the nineties - and played a major role in ending the political career of former chancellor Helmut Kohl. Schreiber will stand trial in the southern German town of Augsburg. A court spokesman said it is not clear whether the politically sensitive case will begin before national elections next month.
