Is India winning the new space race? The Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission shattered some preconceptions and placed India in the elite club of nations which have successfully landed on the Moon. Global Eyes is not only taking a look at that mission with its ice-hunting Pragyan rover but also New Delhi’s efforts explore Venus, Mars, solar missions and crewed space flight as soon as 2024. We discuss the latest on Chandrayaan-3, its predecessors and the latest on the current mission.

Why did India sign the Artemus Accords—the US-led initiative to return humans to the Moon and even eventually go to Mars. Some critics have called the accords a form of space colonialism. The signatories to the non-binding agreement say it’s about sharing research. DW’s new take on security policy also examines India’s commercial efforts in space, military aspects to include anti-satellite weapons research and competition with China. Our guests, author and professor Dr. Namrata Goswami and Pranav R. Satyanath a researcher at the Council for Strategic Defense Research, had a lively discussion with our hosts.
