NATO leaders at their summit in the Romanian capital Bucharest today turn their attention to Afghanistan. This as French President Nicolas Sarkozy confirms that France will be sending extra troops to eastern Afghanistan to fight the Taliban. On Wednesday NATO leaders +++LM-REIN+++ agreed to invite Croatia and Albania to join the 26-nation defence alliance. There are still doubts concerning Macedonia's push to join NATO because of objections from Greece. Also on today's agenda in Bucharest -- what to offer Ukraine and Georgia after the door was closed on their membership aspirations. +++LM-RAUS+++ The "no" to Ukraine and Georgia is being interpreted as something of a setback for US President George Bush, who had given strong backing to their bids.
