German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder will meet with Libyan leader Moammar Ghadafi in Tripoli on October 15, government sources said Saturday. The announcement comes just weeks after Libya agreed to pay $35 million (€28.4 million) in compensation to the victims and survivors of a 1986 discotheque bombing at the "La Belle" club in Berlin. The settlement deal was widely considered a major step toward ending Libya's international isolation. Schröder will be the first German chancellor to ever visit the Libyan capital.
