Securing the future through education

Mark Richmond is a sociologist and education researcher. For years he has worked for UNESCO in the topic area of education for peace and sustainable development. He has taught in political science departments in Britain and the United States, focusing on structural social inequality. Richmond keeps a close eye on educational policy in developing and emerging economy countries, which includes observing educational reform processes in Latin America and the situation of refugees in Sub-Saharan Africa.
In an interview with Deutsche Welle, the director of the Intersectoral Platform for Education and Sustainable Development explained why it is important to anchor education as a human right.
